About
Misha Kostrov
I am fascinated by film and theatre. I love to make movies, direct for stage and teach actors. In my life, all these three activities are linked and complement each other.
I feel happy when my students feel gifted, get confident and get booked for roles. I feel happy when my movies get acknowledgment from the audience and awards. I like when people enjoy the show I make and when they laugh and experience catharsis.
I am confident that filmmaking and directing are beautiful ways to connect with the inner space. It is also a way to research what are we as human beings. That is the reason why I do this for so many years.
I began acting when I was a student back in 1995. I have been teaching acting and directing movies and stage for over 16 years while feeling happy and fulfilled. In addition, I have also studied Gestalt therapy at Kyiv Gestalt University. The world of psychology and psychotherapy and the knowledge and related skills it provides enables me to be a more efficient director and acting teacher.
Today I am an award-winning film director and founder of Misha Kostrov’s Actors Studio and Co-founder of Improvisation and Performing Arts Advancement Center "Chornyi Kvadrat", which are both located in Kyiv, Ukraine.
I look forward to creating new movies and plays and also teaching new students.
